In 1962 Willem Rademeyer started a small butchery in Crawford street with a team of just four. Originally the butchery got all its meat from local farmers and distributors. The Rademeyer children were born and raised into the meat industry and in 1990, son Stephaan Rademeyer, joined the family business. After a tragic accident seven years later Stephaan passed away and daughter Doré Grobler and her husband Christo Grobler joined the family business.

Today Christo and Doré Grobler run the successful butchery and have over two decades of experience in the meat industry. Their son, Jaco Grobler, has also joined the company and together they oversee a staff of 80 people. These days, Merino Butchery still supports local farmers and distributors, but they have also widen their horizons internationally to guarantee costumers the very best quality products.
